Crosslam Australia successfully fire tests its 160mm 5 ply CLT panel to Australian Standards

We tested our floor panel for 90 minutes with the equivalent of 5 cars parked on top of it.  This is yet another example of how safe Timber buildings can be under intense fire loading and stress. Looking forward to further testing and refining our flooring products.

Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) reduces the embodied energy of buildings because it is made from a natural product. Timber absorbs carbon, pulling carbon dioxide out of the air when a tree is growing.

Each tree’s carbon is retained in the timber we process, markedly reducing or removing altogether carbon dioxide pollution that is created by traditional energy intensive manufacturing of building materials such as steel, concrete and masonry.

“A hectare of pine forest extracts 10 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year.* Myers/Goreau 1991
